Intersection of Paying Gig and Passion: WSWA 68th Annual Convention

Many of you know that my paid job is in public relations and my passion is writing about wine.  I have the chance this week to align these for the first time because my agency is responsible for the public relations surrounding the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America’s 68th Annual Convention & Exposition, one of the largest industry gatherings in the wine and spirits world where hundreds of suppliers unveil the latest beverages to the hottest brands that will change the way that consumers drink not only in the U.S., but around the world.

Because of the pre-work that I had to do for the media, I knew that there were some pretty innovative spirits trends like flavored vodka with “healthy ingredients” like Kai Lemongrass Vodka, Kai Coconut Pandan Vodka and St. Claire Green Tea Vodka.  Other things that piqued my interest included Moneru Single Grape Eau-de-Vie, a cross between a whiskey and cognac; the first single malt whiskey aged in ice water and chocolate noir, a chocolate cream with red wine.

Tomorrow I hit the show floor to go exploring and will definitely keep you guys posted about what we’ll be seeing soon in our local bars and retailers.
